EDMODO-Looking for suggestions on how to use in the math classroom
I recently was able to visit a school who has implemented 1:1 technology K-12 through the use of IPods, IPads, and laptop computers. I was amazed by the things they were doing using Edmodo in their Reading and Writing classes. Have any of you used Edmodo in your math classrooms? I currently teach 5th grade math and I'm looking for a way to use this site in my class.
we've had students bring in black Friday ads and then them to use math concepts with real-life application. i bet you could adapt to a similar activity using edmodo.
ReplyDeleteDepending on what math concept your are teaching, say for instance percentages. You can ask them to keep an eye out in the real world for when that concept is being used. They can then report back on edmodo by journaling where and how they saw that concept used and maybe evn the actual math problem. Maybe they'd say at a restaurant, figuring out the tax, or in a store figuring out a sale price. It helps them see why they are learning that concept. I often hear, "Why do I need to know this?" Do you?
